Dealing with Sexual Abuse among Children

"Dealing with Sexual Abuse Among Children" is a new program that works with the treatment staff at residential group homes. The program offers guidance in developing a new systemic approach to dealing with the problem of sexual abuse to and among children living in these group homes that includes:
 - staff training for key Residential group care staff members
– guidance from a staff of experts who intensively accompany the program in each group home
 - supervision and guidance for group home counselors

At the end of a year's activities, changes can be observed in the attitude of residential group homes towards everything connected with sexual abuse among children. These changes include:
Greater awareness of the problem in the group homes
Earlier identification of potentially problematical situations
Improvement in the staff's capacity to recognize, intervene and prevent problematical situations
Greater protection for children in residential group homes

Next year courses for residential group home treatment staff are planned and the guidance from the staff of experts will continue.
The program is supported by "Ashalim" and the Social Welfare Ministry, and is operated by "Yeladim – the Council for the Child in Placement".
