The Annual General Assembly of Yeladim - The Council for the Child in Placement was festively convened at the conference hall of the School of Social Work at Tel Aviv University on September 16, 2003, once again traditionally chaired by Justice (Ret.) Amos Zamir.

 

The Council's outgoing chairman, Professor Shimon Spiro, reported to the General Assembly on the council's activities of the past year. In particular, he emphasized the important contribution of the council's volunteers and donors to the organization's development and expansion of activities.

Mr. Mordechai Holtzblatt, CPA, presented the Internal Review Committee report, especially noting the council's expanded activities compared with the reduction in operating funds. The council's honorary treasurer, Mr. Yitzhak Rahav, presented the council's 2002 Balance Statement to the GA for its approval and praised the council's board members for their fundraising efforts. Mr. Binia Benjamin, CPA was unanimously reelected to the position of council accountant for an annual fee of NIS 1! The council’s Internal Review Committee, including the committee's chairman, Mr. Mordechai Holtzblatt ("Holtzi") and committee members Ms. Carey Rector and Mr. Gideon Baum were also reelected for an additional term in office.

At the GA's closing session, the outgoing Board of Directors elected a new board including three new members: Aviv Levine, Orit Lerner and Amir Feldman, as well of course as the council's new chairman, Professor Dan Shnit. Professor Shnit chose to close the gala evening with an optimistic statement of his "personal creed" for the coming years and wished a successful year for all those active in the council’s activities.
