Galia Maor Recruited "Friends of Children" for Yeladim - the Council for the Child in Placement
 
            Galia Maor, Executive Director of Bank Leumi and Chair of "Friends of Yeladim – the Council for the Child in Placement", invited her friends from Israel's economic elite to become "Friends of Children" for the Council.
 
            The event took place on Friday, the 26th of November, in the form of an American Power Breakfast. Each couple made a contribution to aid a special program created by the Council for 8,000 children living in 80 residential group homes throughout Israel.
 
            Galia Maor: "I took upon myself the task of Chairing this circle of  "Friends" because, as a banker, I know that investment in children is the wisest investment. From my visit to the group homes I learned that my responsibility is even greater than I first thought, since it includes not only changing, but even saving a young person's life.
 
            Professor Dan Schnidt, Chair of Yeladim – the Council for the Child in Placement, described to those present the activities of the Council and presented the new Executive Director, Ronit Lev-Ari, formerly an advisor to the Prime Minister on the role of women.
 
            Yael Shavit, a filmmaker who is also a Council volunteer as host family for a child in group care, presented a moving documentary film she prepared on a day in the life of a girl in residential group care.
 
            VIPs from the Israel's business community were present with their wives\husbands, including Council activists: Judith and Rami Nussbaum, Irit and Yonathan Kolbar, Izi Rahav, Amir Feldman, Ilana Sivan, and many more.
