"Yeladim – The Council for the Child in Placement" celebrated the opening of a Music Room in the Community Group Home "Scandinavia" on December 8, 2004. In "Beit Scandinavia", Yeladim – The Council for the Child in Placement celebrated the opening of a Music Room together with the donators – Attorney Yaakov Leshtzinsky, known as a singer by the name of Kob, and his friends Micky Adi, Shir Yisraeli, and Shaul Mizrachi, owner of the Barbi Club in Tel Aviv. They had produced shows and made appearances before audiences and, through the initiative of Yeladim, all the money collected was contributed towards the creation of this Music Room. This initiative was joined by employees of "Yellow Pages", who helped to redecorate the room. The new Music Room will be used by 30 children, between the ages of six and fourteen, who are in group care because of serious difficulties in their families. This acoustically sensitized room will include a variety of musical instruments designed for pre-instrument musical education, including Chinese cymbals, drums, bongos, tambourines, xylophones, etc. Ronit Lev-Ari, Executive Director of the Council for the Child in Placement, said that she sees feels it is important to encourage musical education for children in residential group care who have been through severe distress in their young lives. They now will have an opportunity, for the first time, to experience art and its value. Ruth Ginossar, Director of the Council's Art and Art Therapy activities, sees in the Music Room and opportunity for children to express their feelings as well as a place to reveal hidden musical talents. Yeladim – The Council for the Child in Placement, is a national voluntary organization that helps over 8,000 children of all ages who live if 80 residential group homes throughout the country. The Council offers for these children over fifteen educational, treatment and rehabilitative projects within the group homes, and recruits for the children families who host them on weekends and provide them needed attention and love. Mr. Elisar, Director of Education in Lod municipality, participated in the Music Room opening celebration, and welcomed the guests. |
