Microsoft Israel, together with Yeladim-The Council for the Child in Placement, continues its program of nurturing children living at the group residential homes. Recently, the company provided 50 new computers to six group homes and allowed hundreds of our children the opportunity to discover and enrich their computer skills in a course organized by Microsoft. Added to this list are seven new computers, video and digital cameras in a new computer room at the Yuvalim group residential home, inaugurated by the company this past January 7, 2004, as well as a course in computer skills and applications for the children at Yuvalim. The Microsoft personnel have adopted the children of Yuvalim for almost a year now. During Hanukah, they organized a workshop to make holiday candles and design a large Hanukah menorah. The personal relations between Microsoft personnel and our children are rapidly gaining momentum, as eight employees are already tutoring children, helping them with lessons, having fun and just becoming friends. The Yuvalim counselors report that a new, more positive spirit has taken hold of the children following the contacts that have been made. |
