Nice to meet you
We give children and young adults in residential care a real chance at a better life
Imagine a child entering boarding school for the first time with a small bag in hand and a heart full of questions. Sometimes he is an orphan, sometimes he simply does not have a safe home to return to. He did not choose the path his life began on, but he certainly deserves a real chance.
In Israel, about 6,500 children and teenagers are currently growing up in welfare boarding schools from kindergarten to the end of high school. At the age of 18, when they graduate from boarding school, they suddenly set off on their own independent journey. They have no parents to remind them to pay bills, to help them find an apartment, or to be there when something goes wrong.

Who We Are
A vision grounded in people
At Yeladim – Fair Chance for Children, we have walked alongside children and young adults in residential care since 1986 – from their early years in residential homes to their first steps into adulthood.
Together with 700 volunteers, a dedicated professional team, and innovative, research-based programs, we support their emotional and social development, safeguard their rights, and open the door to lives built on belonging and security.
We work in close partnership with residential care teams and with the Ministries of Welfare, Justice, and Defense.
We are Israel’s leading nonprofit in this field, guided by a simple vision: that every child and young adult in residential care can grow up with safety, dream without fear, and build a better future.
Connecting Global Goals to Social Change in Israel
Yeladim is aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), advancing core social goals in Israel – poverty reduction, quality education, decent work, and reduced inequalities.
Through programs in education, employment, and rights, we give children and young adults in residential care a real opportunity to learn, develop, and build independent, meaningful lives.
Together with partners across the business, public, and social sectors, we turn global goals into practical action for children in Israel.
